Allianz Smart City Dortmund
One of our geman Project-Partners is the Allianz Smart City Dortmund. With over 600,000 inhabitants, Dortmund is a metropolis in western Westphalia and the gateway to the Rhine-Ruhr region in the heart of Europe. Dortmund is a city of medium-sized businesses, technology and services, with a still powerful industrial core. Dortmund is one of the most dynamic cities of the new economy in Germany and a rapidly growing technology location. With broad acceptance, the city, business and science are bundled in a unique network.
The Alliance Smart City Dortmund is an initiative of the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the City of Dortmund, the Headquarter for Energytransition Dortmund (in German: L.E.D. – Leitstelle Energiewende Dortmund) and Cisco Germany. Together with 137 other alliance partners, they are working on developing ideas and projects, raising funds and implementing measures to turn Dortmund into a Smart City. Administration and politics have paved the way, the course has been set, the project is taking shape and is picking up speed.
The Alliance Smart City Dortmund has jointly developed a total of 24 projects on various topics, which are in the pilot phase or were implemented already. The range of projects extends from smart parking solutions or the heat transition in Dortmund to digitization in the housing industry, digital urban development and smart mobility concepts. The projects mostly emerged from the circle of alliance partners, e.g. in the context of the kick-off event, expert team meetings and in the following alliance conferences.
